Volunteer with Help Bristol’s Homeless
Help Bristol’s Homeless is run and operated by volunteers, and we recognise and value the enormous contribution they make.
When you volunteer with Help Bristol’s Homeless, either as an individual or with your company, you will be making a significant contribution to combating homelessness. You will also have the opportunity to socialise with like-minded people and other volunteers.
Check out our current volunteering roles below.
If you would like to get involved, please complete our Volunteer Application Form online.
We often need extra help in our office with admin duties. This is mainly:
- Dealing with the many emails we get
- Answering the phone
- Helping to manage the office diary.
This would be weekday or Saturday office hours only. To provide adequate cover, a regular commitment of 3 hours per session is required.
360 WINX BUS SUPPORT
We need regular help to keep the 360 Winx clean and ready for residents. This includes:
- Stripping/remaking beds
- Doing laundry
This would be on a regular basis, weekday office hours only.
The big thing that we always need is money! This is to help fund the day-to-day running costs, and (hopefully) to enable us to expand so that we can help more people.
If you are able to get involved with existing fundraising activities, or perhaps could suggest new ones then please let us know. This could include anything from asking local businesses for raffle prizes, or running a fund-raising event or applying for grant funding.
PROJECT SUPPORT WORKERS
We require Project Support Workers to support residents at HBH in a variety of ways. This will include:
- Liaising with bus guests & residents
- Coordinating both in-house and external resources for support
- Collaborating with the rest of the team at HBH
- Developing and maintaining records & monitoring outcomes
This is a voluntary role, suitable for someone with appropriate experience (e.g. social work).
Flexible and part-time, 4-6 hours per week over 2 days.
You will be part of a small team to provide core cover, weekday office hours only.
A DBS check will be required.
We are fortunate to have a trained on-site chef. So we pretty much have this covered at present.
ADDITIONAL ‘HANDS-ON’ SUPPORT
Periodically we have a need for support in various areas, and it would be very useful to have a list of people that we could call on for help. For example:
- Maintenance work e.g. simple household DIY tasks, painting
- Maintenance work – more skilled e.g. plumbing, electrical, roof work
- Kitchen work – ideally from an experienced person
If you could help, please let us know.
Large companies often have a ‘corporate social responsibility’ scheme. These schemes allow employees to volunteer for one or more days a year, during working hours.
HBH finds these really useful, for things like painting containers, fences, building plant containers etc.
Due to the nature of these activities, they are best done in the warmer, sunnier times of the year.
As the Spring Street project is quite small, we can only really accommodate a maximum of about six people.
If companies have a budget to help provide materials, then that would be fantastic.
If you would like to find out more about these roles or other volunteering opportunities, please email us: email@example.com
Thank you for your support. Together we can make a difference!
